Text by DEF 2024/12

Mr. Bruce Cheng, the founder of Delta, was awarded "The 2nd K.T. Li Award" by the K.T. Li Foundation for the Development of Science and Technology. The award ceremony took place on the afternoon of October 28, 2024, at the Shangri-La Far Eastern Hotel in Taipei. With over sixty years of dedication to the industrial sector, Founder Bruce Cheng continues to be deeply inspired by the foresight of Mr. K.T. Li and his contributions to Taiwan's technological development. These inspirations have consistently led him to reflect on his own mission and responsibilities throughout his entrepreneurial journey.

Although there was no direct contact with Mr. Kwoh-Ting Li and Mr. Yun-Suan Sun, the founder Cheng personally donated to the teaching buildings of National Central University and National Cheng Kung University over ten years ago. These buildings were named after the two statesmen, Sun and Li, and include the NCU Kwoh-ting Optics and Photonics Building and the NCKU Y.S. Sun Green Building. During that turbulent era, K.T. Li and Y.S. Sun can be considered pioneers in the development of science and technology in Taiwan. They created a favorable investment environment for Taiwan, which enabled many local companies, including Delta Electronics, to grow and prosper rapidly.

Today, Taiwan's economic achievements can be fully attributed to the selfless and patriotic officials of those two generations. Their well-planned policies have created a favorable environment for entrepreneurship and investment, enabling the progress of Taiwan's industries. In today's society, it is challenging to find exemplary figures worth learning from among the younger generation. Founder Zheng stated that through this award, recognizing the statesman K.T. Li's contributions to Taiwan is even more meaningful. K.T. Li once said, 'Technology is the driving force behind economic development,' and this statement deeply resonates with the founder and serves as a constant reminder to Delta's colleagues to continuously improve in research and development and strive for innovation.

K.T. Li Foundation for the Development of Science and Technology established the inaugural K.T. Li Award in 2023 to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to Taiwan's economy and technology industry. The establishment of the K.T. Li Award aims to promote the spirit of the statesman K.T. Li's era. This year, the founder Bruce Cheng and Mr. Matthew Miau, Chairman of the MiTAC-Synnex Group, were both deserving recipients of the award.
