Text by Public Affairs Department 2024/02

Delta has commenced construction on its new manufacturing base in Western Chongqing. The construction began in December 2023, and upon completion, it will become Delta’s first production base in the western region of China. This base will primarily focus on the development of power supplies, fans and cooling systems, as well as advancements in new energy vehicles.  The CEO of Delta, Ping Cheng, emphasized the Chongqing factory’s plan to utilize the geographical and talent advantages of Chongqing. The factory will establish a research and development laboratory and actively promote intelligent manufacturing based on big data. Once completed, the factory will aim to achieve higher quality development by harnessing the power of innovation. Besides this, the Chongqing factory will respond to downstream demands in fields such as electric vehicles. On the one hand, it will meet the domestic market demand in mainland China, while on the other, it will serve as a front-end production base. Utilizing China-Europe Railway Express, it will transport components to Delta’s production base in Eastern Europe for back-end assembly, thereby meeting the requirements of global customers.

The CEO of Delta, Ping Cheng, and the guests attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Western Manufacturing Base.

The Western Manufacturing Base is located in Nan’an District, Chongqing City, and covers an area of 300,000 m². It has received an initial investment of 1.45 billion RMB. Following the launch of the Chongqing plant, our primary focus will shift towards the production of power supplies, fans, communication devices, and automotive electronics. The facility will be equipped with solar power generation and energy storage systems, with the aim of creating a green building, a smart factory, and a smart park, achieving an intelligent plant area integrating factory buildings, office areas, research and development laboratories, dormitories, and supporting living facilities.

The Western Manufacturing Base is situated in Chongqing and will serve as Delta’s first production facility in the western region of China upon completion.

Chongqing, as a hub for automotive industry development, is currently in the operational phase of vehicle research and development, manufacturing, key component production, and the construction of charging and swapping infrastructure. Under Delta’s global internal carbon pricing and other carbon reduction mechanisms, by the end of 2022, 90% of electricity in mainland China has come from renewable sources. Delta will collaborate with Chongqing to use the power of technological innovation to promote green transformation in economic development.
