Micro-Grid energy storage is a critical element in realizing the vision- through effectively operating energy storage system to generate regional micro-grid network power, to distribute and use electricity, to stabilize the grid network frequency, and to be able to make use of nearby renewable energy source. In the event of an accident, it is also able to independently maintain power supply stability and improve energy use efficiency. Delta acquired the tender for Taipower Chiayi Xinwen Electrical Regional Substation Grid Network energy storage system. The project is part of Taipower's “Strengthening Grid Network Resilience Construction Plan” and is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. This project is the largest and earliest in the "Regional Grid Network Energy Storage Plan". The micro-grid network energy storage system has a distribution capacity of 5MW / 7.68 MWh, and will connect diesel generators, solar power systems and user terminal loads at the substation, to create a connecting grid network and a self-sufficient operating micro-grid network. In the event of an accident where the feeder end of the grid network is disconnected, the energy storage system is able to independently execute "grid-forming" to control the voltage and frequency of the microgrid network, hence providing stable power supply in the micro-grid network region.

In the early development stage of the energy storage system, the focus is on generating power applications, executing renewable energy power smoothing and adjusting frequency services and related grid network applications (front of the table). As the renewable energy generation proportion increases and become more diversified, the energy storage system "from the front to the back of the table" shows the development trend. The application also extends to a shift in renewable energy, the micro-grid network and user energy management (back of the table). The energy storage shift not only optimizes user's energy efficiency, but also stabilizes the grid network.

Delta has deployed diversified power grid network and micro-grid network technology for many years, and has completed 100% of domestic and foreign energy storage systems projects since 2018, including several off-island (Taiwan) micro-grid network projects, and integrated utility power, gas power generation, energy storage, renewable energy, among other hybrid-powered energy micro-grid network projects, assisting power plants in the distribution and stability of renewable energy operation. In the future, we will continue to cooperate with Taipower to influence energy storage in micro-grid network applications, by building a self-sufficient micro-grid network in each region, and transitioning single micro-grid network to multi-micro-grid network, which brings about stable power supply in the network, and a large power grid network that supports one another outside the network, allowing Taiwan's power grid network to make steady transition. Other than being the contractor of Taipower's "Strengthening Grid Network Resilience Construction Plan", Delta and its partners also jointly acquired the tender for Tainan Nanhua Second Electrical Regional Substation Grid Network Energy Storage Plan.
