Delta has collaborated with the leading French mobile phone and Internet service provider and IPTV company to create and install a groundbreaking custom-built prefabricated data center solution at their site in Châteaurenard, France. This solution not only facilitates rapid deployment, resulting in a substantial 20% reduction in construction costs compared to conventional setups, but also boasts high performance that can slash operational costs by up to 30%, giving a considerable competitive advantage in a sector under constant pressure to swiftly innovate and deliver new services—such as 5G and IoT—to customers.
Customer praises Delta’s high-efficiency installation of prefabricated data center
In the past, traditional data centers have encountered problems such as high power consumption, poor flexibility, and long construction periods. However, by adopting modular design, Delta’s data center provides an intelligent and flexible infrastructure. This design allows for shorter installation periods and flexible expansion of the data center based on the company’s growth, meeting the increasing data demand.
At the construction site, a vacant lot measuring 1,378 square meters was used for the on-site installation of a prefabricated data center by engineering personnel. Each module and internal structure follow a standardized installation process, and the construction and installation work was completed in approximately one week after the arrival of the containers.
At the construction site, Delta’s engineering personnel placed the prefabricated data center within five adjacent containers while another container was placed behind, taking them only two days to finalize positioning.
In this project, Delta deployed six containers and multiple system devices, including a cooling system, intelligent airflow management, and Eltek’s bidirectional power conversion solution (Rectiverter). This will facilitate optimal temperature control and reduce energy consumption, resulting in up to 30% decreased operating costs. In terms of power distribution and management, the data center adopts advanced integrated power modules and smart grid technology to enhance reliability and expandability, ensuring uninterrupted business operations. The overall construction cost is reduced by 20% compared to conventional approaches, and in terms of construction period, it was all accomplished one year ahead of schedule, earning recognition for its high efficiency from the customer.
This prefabricated data center combines multiple systems such as cabinets, air conditioning, UPS, lighting, monitoring, cooling, and fans in modules, thereby simplifying the design and saving space in the machine.
Branimir Brkljačić, head of the Data Center Solutions team, Delta EMEA, said: “Delta’s prefabricated data center solution is gaining traction across market sectors ranging from computer services to telecommunications, transportation, manufacturing and semiconductor industries. The solution is widely accepted with features such as modular design facilitating quick and easy assembly, and scalability, which makes it easy to adapt in line with an organization’s growth. We’re delighted that customer chose Delta’s all-in-one prefabricated data center as it maps its route to the future with a solution that has saved it time and money without compromising security, sustainability goals or efficiency.”
