Delta Electronics Thailand(DET) donated 10,500 of its original high-efficiency DC brushless blowers to the Board of Investment (BOI) and the Thai government to support the domestic development and production of a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Thailand’s frontline COVID-19 medical personnel.
At a ceremony, representatives from DET, the Thai government and Chulalongkorn University announced the successful development of a new PAPR PPE for medical personnel treating COVID-19 patients. Mr. Jackie Chang, President of DET, represented the company to donate the 10,500 BFB1012EH-A model DC brushless blowers to Ms. Duangjai Asawachintachit, the Secretary General of the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) and Dr. Suvit Maesincee, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI).
During the development stage, Dr. Kittiphan Techakittiroj, Learning Innovation Center at Chulalongkorn University, requested Delta’s high-efficiency DC blowers to use in the PAPR and PPE joint development project involving Chulalongkorn University, the Thai Subcontracting Promotion Association and Vajira Hospital. With close collaboration from Delta fan and blower designers located in Thailand, the joint development project selected Delta’s BFB1012EH-A DC brushless blower with high satisfaction in its performance after rigorous testing and comparison with other leading global PPE brands.
Air provided by Delta’s BFB1012EH-A DC blower passes through an H14 thickness 1.5 medical-grade high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter to supply safe breathing air to medical workers wearing the positive-pressure mask type PPE in COVID-19 treatment wards. Delta’s DC blower is powered by a USB power bank which is easy to charge anywhere. The superior performance of Delta’s DC blower means medical personnel wearing the PAPR PPE are safer and more comfortable during their shift. Longer battery life and easier charging will also reduce interruptions and increase work efficiency at the treatment wards.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Chang said, “Delta supports Thailand with innovation in the fight against COVID-19. We appreciate Thailand’s courageous frontline medical workers and we want to do everything possible to give them the protection they need. We want to thank the BOI, Chulalongkorn University and the Thai government for this opportunity to contribute and we commit to working with our partners for the best life-saving solutions as we strive to overcome this crisis together.”
Dr. Suvit Maesincee said, "This top quality ventilation system is an important medical device developed with support from DET and the BOI. This is an excellent example of cooperation from all sectors in Thai society to turn crisis into an opportunity to develop know-how and produce critical equipment for our medical personnel.”
Developed and produced in Thailand, Delta’s DC fans and blower products are critical components for vital medical equipment used to fight COVID-19. Delta’s investment in local R&D and manufacturing capabilities supports its business with top global customers and is an engine for innovation that contributes to Thai society.
