Delta micro-module data center supports the premium yacht contest
Text by DGC 2018/10

Delta, the global leader in power management and cooling solutions, teamed up with a national sports event center to create a leading micro-module data center that provides a reliable information platform for top-class sailing events.

There are many application systems involved in sailing events. Dozens of application systems such as competition management system, performance system and office system are highly centralized. The event management unit selected Delta’s Dynamic Datacenter Series of micro-modules, including DPH Series modular UPS, precision cooling, data center infrastructure management (DCIM) system, etc.

Delta Micro-module DPH 75150200kW

The UPS selected for the sailing event data center is a modular DPH Series that is capable of achieving automatic redundancy for the power module through its built-in control mechanism. Taking into account the importance of the UPS system, Delta also adopted a centralized power supply solution with a maximum scalable capacity of 500kVA and a 2N dual busbar architecture, which greatly improved the reliability of the power supply system.

The DCIM system used in the micro-module provides a comprehensive unified view of the combination of the IT infrastructure (virtual machines, servers, racks, etc.) and the facility environment (power, cooling system, and environment) on which the data center operations depend. In terms of the energy-efficient design, Delta uses cabinet-type air conditioners to directly supply air in the near heat source, solving the problem of local hot spots. Compared with traditional machine rooms, the cooling efficiency of the micro-module data center is increased by more than 12%, with the PUE reduced to below 1.5.
