Delta assists in the further evolution of energy-saving LED streetlights in the northern district of New Taipei City, with the use of recyclable materials to further enhance carbon reduction benefits.
Delta has been awarded the energy-efficient streetlight replacement and maintenance project in New Taipei City on two occasions, successfully assisting the city in completing the project across 13 administrative districts in the northern region. A total of nearly 120,000 units of streetlights have been upgraded, utilizing energy-efficient LED fixtures made from over 90% recyclable materials, which is expected to save approximately 22.25 million kWh of electricity annually, resulting in a reduction of about 11,594 tons of carbon emissions. Over a ten-year period, it is anticipated to save approximately NTD150 million in electricity expenditure.
Roland Chiang, deputy BG head of Delta's Building Automation Business Group, stated: "Delta has been awarded the energy-efficient streetlight replacement and maintenance project in New Taipei City in both 2014 and 2020, making it the first company in Taiwan to consecutively undertake the second phase and the longest-serving company to date, demonstrating Delta's strength in integrated services and project management. The project employs a performance-based contract, which directly links service outcomes to performance. This approach not only reduces government costs and enhances the quality of corporate operational services but also improves the quality of public construction, allowing citizens to enjoy a more comfortable urban environment and creating a win-win-win situation for the government, businesses, and citizens."
To enhance the quality of operational services, Delta has developed an intelligent streetlight replacement system that utilizes digital methods to manage the replacement process and improve efficiency. Additionally, in response to the extensive area of New Taipei City, Delta has complied with the requirements of the New Taipei City Government by upgrading streetlights in hard-to-report and hard-to-access locations, such as bridges and central medians, to intelligent streetlights. These upgraded streetlights are equipped with built-in controllers that can automatically report relevant information to the system, enabling direct dispatch of maintenance work and reducing the time required for manual patrols. Consequently, the maintenance response time has been reduced from the original 24 hours to within 17 hours.
Streetlights not only illuminate roadways but also play a crucial role in urban disaster prevention applications. By equipping smart lamp posts with environmental monitoring devices, real-time data on temperature, humidity, air quality, and water conditions can be collected. Delta has installed water condition detection systems in eight underground vehicle tunnels that are prone to flooding across the 13 administrative districts of northern New Taipei City, providing real-time updates on road conditions and transmiting sensor data back to the municipal streetlight management platform, thereby assisting in traffic management and bringing a more convenient living environment to citizens. Additionally, it offers decision-making data for future municipal management.
Delta receives the Public Construction Golden Quality Award, recognizing its maintenance and operation service capabilities
In addition, Delta has been awarded the highest honor for public construction quality in Taiwan, the Public Construction Golden Quality Award, for its work on the "Chenglu Bridge" in New Taipei City, demonstrating the team's exceptional capabilities in the maintenance and operation of public construction. By establishing standardized maintenance and operation processes and effectively utilizing intelligent digital tools, Delta has successfully managed to control the overall project schedule while optimizing the efficiency of streetlight maintenance and the quality of construction and maintenance work. This has enhanced construction safety and achieved the goal of zero accidents in construction, thereby assisting New Taipei City in realizing a smart, low-carbon city. The Golden Quality Award is organized by the Public Construction Commission Executive Yuan and represents the highest honor for public construction quality in the country. Delta has accumulated extensive professional experience and integration capabilities through its projects involving intelligent streetlight installations worldwide and has now expanded into the maintenance and operation service sector.
