In response to the emerging energy regulations worldwide, controlling fossil fuel consumption and accelerating the development of new energy framework are urgent priorties. New power systems are crucial components of the new energy framework and vehicles for achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.
They have also become a widely discussed topic in the field of power electronics."2024 University Power Electronics New Technology Symposium" was held in Nanjing, China. The discussion was centered around topics such as power electronics, new power systems, and the development and challenges of future grids. Power electronics technology also presents new opportunities for energy management and performance of smart devices.
Furthermore, power electronics technology helps data center reduce energy consumption and becomes a crucial support for industrial upgrading. During the symposium, Professor Hua Geng and Associate Researcher Lidan Zhou were awarded the 2024 "Delta Scholar" honorary title. Professor Qianming Xu, Researcher Xin Zhang, and Associate Professor Xuebao Li received the "Delta Young Technology Scholar Award." A total of 73 graduate students received scholarships, A total of 73 graduate students received scholarships, including academic scholars who focus on the development of the discipline of power electronics and more than 400 teachers and students from 13 schools engaged in deep discussions with industry experts . Our goal is to advance foundational research and development in power electronics and the electrification of new power systems, as well as to promote talent development in these fields.

Professor Fred C. Lee, Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of Dual Science Education Program, said that in the 1990s, the development of the power electronics began to take off despite limited research conditions and a scarcity of talent in power electronics. Since 2000, Delta Dual Science Education Program have been successively launched, promoting innovative development and talent cultivation in power electronics-related discipline at universities. We have also explored the establishment of innovative interdisciplinary research in power electronics and the electrification of new power systems, which has had a significant impact on the industry.
Bruce Cheng, the Founder of Delta and Honorary Chairman of the Board, expressed that Delta is committed to addressing the climate crisis by leveraging technology to promote sustainable development and contribute to global energy conservation and carbon reduction efforts. With a strong focus on business and sustainable development goals, Delta leverages core power electronics technology to deliver innovative, clean, and efficient products and solutions to the world. Currently, China is promoting green and low-carbon transformation in economic and social development, accelerating the construction of new energy-based power system.
During the symposium, the "Electrification of New Power Systems Forum" was held again, featuring keynote presentations from three experts: Professor Richard Zhang from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University spoke on "Opportunities and Challenges in Development of Power Electronics and Future Grids - Power System 3.0," Professor Xu Cai from Shanghai Jiao Tong University spoke on "Key Technologies and Applications of Main Power Source Wind and Solar Farms," and Director General Tzi-cker Chiueh of Delta Research Center spoke on "Management of Energy Storage Systems Using Computer Resource Management Techniques."
The symposium was featured distinguished guests including Professor Luo An, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Mr. Ping Cheng, Chairman and CEO of Delta; Mr. Mark Ko, Vice Chairman of Delta; Mr. Victor Cheng, CEO of Delta Thailand; Ms. Shan-Shan Guo, Chief Brand Officer of Delta; Mr. Jesse Chou, Chief Sustainability Officer and Spokesperson of Delta; Mr. Alpha Zhang, Director of Delta's Design Center in Shanghai and Hangzhou; and Mr. Kevin Tan, General Manager of Delta GreenTech China (DGC).
