Delta supports EV charging infrastructure at an Australian airport
Text by EISBG 2024/08

Recently, Delta announced its involvement in the completion of the new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at Hobart Airport. This project represents a significant step forward for sustainable transportation in Tasmania, an island state of Australia, making it easier for travelers and locals alike to choose eco-friendly travel options.

The initial phase includes the installation of two of Delta’s powerful City Charger 100kW units—one dedicated to the car rental business and another in the valet parking area. This setup is designed to cater to both rental car operators, who require quick turnaround times, and passengers who desire the convenience of a charged EV upon arrival. It also simplifies the process for travelers to recharge their batteries while parked. These DC fast chargers boast high efficiency and reliability and are compatible with most EVs in Tasmania, ensuring rapid and efficient charging for a wide range of EV models. “The new charging stations will provide convenient charging access for EV drivers, promoting sustainable transportation choices and reducing Tasmania’s carbon footprint,” said Tom Hew Delta Australia Country Manager. The project is designed to be expandable, with the potential to add more chargers as demand increases.Delta’s DC fast chargers boast high efficiency and reliability, ensuring rapid and efficient charging for a wide range of EV models.

“We decided to undertake this project to introduce EV charging at Hobart Airport due to the growing demand from our passengers,” said Belinda Bresnehan, Head of Commercial, Hobart Airport. “The addition of Delta’s City Charger 100kW stations aligns with our commitment to sustainability and provides a convenient option for environmentally conscious travelers.”
