To support the dual-carbon target and implement energy use transformation, the 2021 Delta Cup International Solar Building Design Competition is titled "Sunshine & Low -Carbon Community" to promote the development of a low-carbon society and build a green and healthy community environment. On September 27, 2022, the competition award ceremony was held at the Nanjing Tech University with an online merge offline approach. It was also the first time that the competition cooperates with colleges and universities, going on a "tour" to award prizes to schools with outstanding results, which not only promotes the competition on campus, but also encourages students to actively participate in green building through bi-directional communication on topics related to low-carbon facilities. After the first stop in Nanjing, the organizing committee plans to go to Xi'an, Chongqing, and other places to continue the award tour.
The organizing committee of the competition presented awards to the winning teams of Nanjing Tech University.
Since 2006, Delta has been the title sponsor of the Delta Cup International Solar Building Design Competition for ten consecutive years. As of 2021, Delta has received 1,873 valid entries from 9,345 teams, and five entries have already been implemented. Delta continues to promote green buildings and expand its social influence through competition. This year, for the first time, the competition adopted a combination of field construction and conceptual design, selecting a low-carbon community field construction project and a "zero-carbon community" conceptual design project in Dongga Village, Qinglong Township, Baingoin County, Tibet. 149 valid entries were received, and the standard and quality of the designs were greatly improved compared to previous years.
The Nanjing Tech University achieved excellent results in the 2021 competition, including 1 second prize, 1 third prize, and 6 excellent design awards. More than a hundred teachers and students participated in the award ceremony and had deep exchanges with experts. Professor Lu Weidong, Vice President of the Nanjing Tech University, said that in the ambitious goal of achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, how to research, practice, and cultivate talents in the architecture discipline, how to fulfill the responsibility and mission of green development, low-carbon energy saving in the construction industry, are main challenges and opportunities for the architecture discipline. As an excellent design and exchange platform, the Delta Cup International Solar Building Design Competition will definitely have a positive effect on the development of the architecture discipline. Hopefully, Nanjing Tech University will jointly contribute to the realization of the ambitious goal of achieving the dual-carbon target with the competition.
Nanjing Tech University won the second prize in field construction with "Windy Traveler".
