Delta helps a medical big data center realize efficient and low-carbon operations
Text by DGC 2022/12

Delta's data center infrastructure management system has recently been successfully adopted in a national medical big data center in China. The data center's decentralized systems are managed in a centralized manner, which solves the issue of information islands in the data center and reduces the average equipment repair time, while improving the efficiency of operations and the availability, reliability, and security of equipment. It not only reduces the cost of manual operation but improves the efficiency of operations by more than 30%. It also enables more meticulous management of the consumption and loss of different energy sources in the energy management modules and facilitates low-carbon operations and energy conservation in the data center, thereby increasing the energy and capacity utilization rate of the data center by up to 20%.

The medical big data center occupies a total area of about 120,000 square meters with 10,000 racks in place. The data center provides precision medical data of tens of millions of people, and its massive storage and big data analysis functions facilitate the development of emerging industries, such as clinical research, gene sequencing, research and development of new medicine, and health management. Mr. Cai, Jie, Director of the Communication and Information Solution Division of Delta GreenTech China (DGC), stated that hyperscale data centers consist of many large clusters of systems. To improve efficiency and reduce the chance of failures, intelligent infrastructure management systems are particularly critical. How to reduce energy consumption and achieve efficient and reliable operations and management is of paramount importance for this hyperscale data center with 200 million people's health data, which is one of the five major national medical big data regional centers in China. As a centralized management platform, Delta's DCIM system can offer the operating personnel a clear picture of the use situation of the entire data center facilities and equipment. Comprehensive, simple, and effective management can be just achieved with confirmation at one go to safeguard the secure, reliable, low-carbon operations of the data center, with the intelligent management throughout the entire life cycle.
Delta's data center infrastructure management system has recently been successfully adopted in a national medical big data center in China.

Delta's DCIM system includes three functional modules: asset management, energy consumption management, and capacity management. As big data analysis and applications have become more common, DCIM, building on the existing functions, was combined with new functions of data analysis, modeling, and prediction to meet the need for operations, thereby creating an operations management function module. Later, new functions of process management, organizational structure management, and supplier management were added, to continuously diversify the DCIM management system solutions, so as to realize the combination of management and operations and manage the data center throughout its entire life cycle.
