EMPLOYER BRAND
From self-understanding and self-identification to Delta's pluralistic integration
Text by Human Resources Division 2022/06
Delta has 80,000 people from all over the world, with colleagues of all nationalities, races, genders, and sexual orientations. For this reason, diversity is an issue that Delta is paying a lot of attention to in recent years. Delta is committed to a zero-discrimination workplace in compliance with laws and regulations, and also gently conveys different concepts through various employee activities so that employees can start getting to know themselves and further respect people who are different from them, too.

The unconventional in life is waiting for us to meet
No matter who you are, you will have the same opportunity to shine on Delta’s stage. Gender self-identification is the first concept about equal rights that global human resources departments focus on. In Taiwan, a series of life lectures will be held this year, with speakers invited to share life experiences and unique perspectives on different topics each season. The topic of the first season was "Gender Power", featuring Taiwan's famous host and author Bowie Tseng, who is gradually making a name for herself by proving her abilities to the outside world through her immigration to Hong Kong, growing up in Taiwan, and, due to her rich international experience. She also shared her insights on facing unconscious bias and breaking away from gender stereotypes, and it has received a lot of positive feedback.

“Gender Power” life lecture was held at Delta’s headquarter in Taipei, inviting famous host and author, Bowie Tsang, to share her life stories.

Delta EMEA held an online round-table forum for female leaders on International Women's Day this March to celebrate the contributions and achievements of women in the workplace as well as in life, and society in general. On the day, Ms. Yalin Tsai, head of EMEA corporate marketing management and Ms. Coralie Boyd Heen, supervisor of supply chain at ICTBG were invited to share their stories, challenges, and give advice, using their own experiences to let the hundreds of colleagues know that no matter how different you are from others, you can still succeed through hard work and professionalism, and you don't have to care about stereotypes imposed on you by others. “People are different and there is more than one way to a solution. There is a lot to learn by listening to people.” Ms. Boyd Heen encouraged everyone with this uplifting statement.

In Delta India, we have recently provided employee care based on the perspective of women's physiological health by inviting authoritative doctors from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology to share knowledge on health, nutrition, and a lifestyle that is beneficial to women. Delta Thailand will also form a DEI project team to work on equal hiring, promotion, rotation and benefit opportunities to ensure a diverse and equal working environment.

In addition to binary gender, transgender and same-sex issues are also at the forefront of our gender equality concerns. In Delta Thailand, the "Say It Out Loud" event has been held during Pride Month in June since 2021, inviting employees to talk about what Pride Month means to them and why equal treatment and respect is so important in the workplace. At Delta, everyone has the right to express and be themselves. We invite everyone to listen to their stories to create a more harmonious workplace atmosphere by getting to know each other better.

Breaking down barriers with interaction, giving Delta a different look
Except for gender, there are many other issues to be discussed, such as perspectives on relationship, the different generations, or life values in general. The best way to break down boundaries is through good communication and interaction. In the near future, the HR team will aim at making colleagues listen to different voices via seminars and communication platforms.

With Delta’s growth and internationalization, we believe that the integration of diversity is a matter that shouldn’t be put off. By implementing our human rights policy to create a zero-discrimination environment and continue to deepen the values created by culture so that every Delta employee can present themselves with courage and confidence.
