As global awareness of environmental protection and energy efficiency continues to grow, sustainability has become a crucial component of business operations. Club Mahindra’s parent company, Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Limited (MHRIL), operates more than 140 resorts across India and internationally. While delivering exceptional guest experiences, the company actively integrates eco-friendly practices into its operations—committed to reducing carbon emissions, conserving water and energy, and promoting zero-waste strategies.
Historically, MHRIL relied on diesel generators for backup power—an approach that proved both costly and environmentally detrimental. Seeking a cleaner and more efficient alternative, Club Mahindra partnered with Delta to implement a battery energy storage system (BESS). At the Madikeri resort in Karnataka, Delta installed a 300kW energy storage solution that includes an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), lithium-ion battery banks, an energy management system (EMS), and a battery management system (BMS). This system not only improves grid stability and ensures reliable backup power but also empowers the resort to achieve energy independence and lower operating costs.
Since adopting this solution, the results have been striking. The resort has recorded a 97.3% reduction in diesel usage, significantly decreased its carbon footprint, optimized operational expenses, and achieved greater power reliability—even during peak travel seasons. These improvements not only enhance operational efficiency but also help protect the surrounding ecosystem, aligning with Mahindra’s commitments to the RE100 and EP100 initiatives. Most of Club Mahindra’s properties are designed with goals of becoming power-, waste-, and water-neutral.
Looking ahead, Club Mahindra plans to expand this successful partnership with Delta by deploying similar sustainable energy solutions across more of its resorts. Together, they aim to further elevate the guest experience while deepening their shared commitment to environmental stewardship.MHRIL partnered with Delta India to achieve their sustainability goals by implementing the renewable energy solution for enhancing efficiency, grid stability and achieve energy independence while reducing costs by 97.3% reduction in the diesel usage.
