Delta has made significant strides in energy efficiency at its LEED Zero Energy-certified Americas headquarters in Fremont, California. The recent installation of Amerlux’s Carisma LED lighting systems, coupled with advanced building management solutions from LOYTEC and Delta Controls, has led to a remarkable 57% reduction in annual electricity for lighting. This achievement not only underscores Delta’s commitment to sustainability but also sets a new standard for energy-efficiency building practices.
The reduction in energy usage was accomplished by replacing outdated T5 fluorescent lamps with Carisma LED lights, which consume only 78.3 watts per fixture. The lighting system is further enhanced by Bluetooth low-energy drivers and multi-sensors that enable occupancy sensing and daylight harvesting, ensuring that lighting is adjusted based on real-time conditions. Before the installation, the Americas headquarters consumed approximately 136,500 kWh annually for lighting. With the new system, this figure is expected to drop to just 58,760 kWh, resulting in a substantial 57% decrease in energy consumption. The additional automation features are anticipated to reduce energy use by another 45%, further enhancing the building’s efficiency. This achievement is particularly significant given that the Fremont headquarters was the first building in Fremont and the second in the Silicon Valley to achieve LEED Zero Energy certification. The reduction in energy usage was accomplished by replacing outdated T5 fluorescent lamps with Carisma LED lights, which consume only 78.3 watts per fixture.
Beyond energy savings, the Carisma LED system has improved the work environment at the Americas headquarters. Employees have welcomed the brighter, cooler lighting, which has boosted productivity and simplified maintenance. The new system allows for easy control of lighting through enteliWeb, a web-based building management system. This user-friendly interface facilitates the integration of lighting with HVAC systems, creating a comprehensive and efficient building management ecosystem. Gary Harvey, Director of Business Development and Operations at Delta Building Solutions Group, noted that this initiative reflects Delta’s broader strategy to help customers across the U.S. replace inefficient lighting with more sustainable options. He emphasized that the Carisma LED system is a key part of this strategy, representing a shift towards greater energy conservation and cost-effectiveness.
Delta plans to expand this initiative across its global facilities, further cementing its leadership in smart building solutions.
